I scored 132 on CARS and a 518 overall on the MCAT, and I've spent a lot of time thinking carefully about what actually works on this section. My approach focuses on teaching students to identify what the author is trying to accomplish in each paragraph. In practice this means working through real passages together, diagnosing where reasoning breaks down, and building the habit of active reading under timed conditions.

My approach focuses on teaching students to identify what the author is trying to accomplish in each paragraph. In practice this means working through real passages together, diagnosing where reasoning breaks down, and building the habit of active reading under timed conditions.
I hold a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and am entering UC College of Medicine this fall as an M1. I began tutoring recently, working one-on-one online with pre-med undergraduates preparing for the MCAT. My sessions are conducted over Zoom and tailored entirely to where each student is struggling.
Because I'm building my practice, my schedule is flexible and every student gets my full attention. If CARS is what's holding your score back, I'd be glad to help.
