I scored 132 on CARS and a 518 overall on the MCAT, and I've spent a lot of time thinking carefully about what actually works on this section. My approach focuses on teaching students to identify what the author is trying to accomplish in each paragraph. In practice this means working through real passages together, diagnosing where reasoning breaks down, and building the habit of active reading under timed conditions.

Beyond knowledgable, patient, and organized tutor.
Austen is not only an incredible tutor but he is very organized and attentive and he caters each session to your own needs. He is truly a master at the CARS section and was able to expand and improve my comprehension in such a short amount of time - something I was not able to do on my own. He helped me approach the section in ways I would never have thought to before. He is also very organized and always has a game plan which I really appreciated. He consistently tried to find new ways to target my weaknesses individually and then gave me ways and strategies to work on them myself outside of our sessions too. It's apparent he wants you to succeed and I couldn't recommend him enough!
