I have an academic and professional background that blends visual communication, product design, UX principles, and creative problem-solving. I hold a Master of Design from the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP program, where I later returned as an adjunct instructor teaching 3D design foundations with Blender. My time teaching at the university level helped me develop a patient, step-by-step approach that meets students exactly where they are, especially when they are learning new creative tools or trying to translate ideas into strong visual outcomes.

Professionally, I’ve worked for several years as a visual communication designer, producing 2D and 3D visualizations, concept art, and digital interfaces for real clients and organizations. I enjoy helping students understand how to build clear hierarchies, use design principles effectively, and strengthen their portfolios so their work communicates both intention and craft. Many learners I’ve supported come from different stages of their education or career, including high-school students exploring design for the first time and college or adult learners improving their creative skillset.

Alongside my design background, I have an MBA with exposure to subjects like accounting, finance, and operations, which allows me to support students who want help understanding these topics from the perspective of someone who learned them later in their educational journey. My tutoring style is grounded, encouraging, and focused on making complex tools and concepts feel approachable. I aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, experimenting, and building confidence over time.

I have spent years working as a visual communication designer where I worked with marketing teams to help communicate information internally and externally towards clients and the public. I have masters degrees in both Design and Business Administration where I worked with students and academic professionals to create beautiful presentations and interactive slide decks. I also create concept art, was featured in Kotaku Gaming Magazine for a RIOT Games sponsored school project, and in my free time I design patterns for home decor, fabric, and textiles, that I sell on Spoonflower. I use a handful of software including, photoshop, adobe illustrator, blender, and figma.
Blender

Blender

During my time teaching Design Making at the University of Cincinnati’s School of Design, DAAP, which is recognized as the nation’s top ranked public design school, I introduced students to the fundamentals of 3D computer graphics using Blender and guided them through the early stages of building technical confidence in a professional design tool. I used Blender’s accessibility as a free, open source software to create hands-on learning experiences that encouraged creativity, experimentation, and practical skill development in 3D modeling. Throughout the course, I oversaw multiple student projects at once, supporting their creative growth, reinforcing core concepts, and ensuring they progressed steadily toward strong and timely final outcomes.
Graphic Design

Graphic Design

In my graphic design roles at HDR and Solera, I developed 2D and 3D visualizations along with innovative concepts for buildings and traffic scenarios, always tailoring the work to meet the specific needs and expectations of each client. My contributions played a direct role in supporting client acquisition, including securing major contracts with DART, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, and several Departments of Transportation across the country, which helped strengthen HDR’s market presence. I also collaborated closely with a multidisciplinary team that included graphic and web designers, video editors, photographers, and social media marketing specialists, guiding the visual direction and branding of key projects. Through this collaborative work, I helped ensure a cohesive and impactful brand presence across platforms, strengthening each company’s messaging and overall visual identity.

Knowledgeable and patient Figma tutor

Selim has been a great Figma tutor, helping me learn the basics and get into good habits so that files are clean and easy to manage. He is a good communicator and comes up with novel ways to reinforce basic concepts so that skills stick. Moreover, he is very patient and willing to work with me on projects that I need to complete. Besides understanding the software, he has a deep understanding of UX principles like accessibility and Gestalt principles, I highly recommend him as a Figma tutor for creating interactive digital prototypes.
