I recently graduated with a PhD in Classical Archaeology at the University of Cincinnati. In my time at UC I graded and provided feedback on over 1000 essays, exams, and multi-media projects for five different undergraduate courses in the Classics Department. Situated in the College of Arts & Sciences, my course topics were focused on the ancient world, but we attracted and enrolled students from all colleges across the university and used the niche content to engage the students in short and long form writing practices in a number of formats. I was especially attuned to reading comprehension, composition, and digital literacy, and provided detailed feedback to help my students develop their skills and improve across the duration of the semesters.
In addition to formal classroom instruction experience, I also dedicated large portions of my time to delivering a number of presentations to school children of all ages and adults of all different education backgrounds, introducing them to the field of archaeology and study of the ancient Mediterranean and Middle East as part of the UC Classics Department's internationally renowned Outreach Program. I was able to flexibly alter my presentations for these diverse audiences depending on age and knowledge levels, and very much enjoyed engaging with middle school and high school students.
I have always especially enjoyed one on one interactions with students and am eager to continue to connect with students outside of traditional classroom settings in order to help people develop conscious and intentional reading and writing abilities that can be utilized and translated across a variety of contexts in school and work environments.
