Hello! My name is Kimberly, and I’m a certified educator with over 18 years of teaching experience. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education (K–12), and I’m dual-certified in both English Language Arts (Grades 4–12) and as an Intervention Specialist (K–12). Throughout my career, I’ve worked with students of all ability levels—from struggling learners who need extra support to advanced students looking to refine their writing. I’ve spent many years tutoring students one-on-one and in small groups in a school-based learning lab, focusing on individualized instruction in writing, reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary development. I believe that my consistent, ongoing training in working with students with learning disabilities has prepared me to work well with most students, whether the students have a learning disability or not.
My tutoring approach is patient, flexible, and highly personalized. I work hard to meet each student where they are, whether that be learning to build a complete sentence from the start or modifying and improving sentence structure, building both their skills and their confidence. I believe learning should be engaging and empowering, and I strive to make every session a safe space where students can ask questions, explore ideas, and feel proud of their progress. While my specialties lie in writing (both academic and creative) and vocabulary, I am also confident in supporting students in elementary and intermediate math (up to 5th or 6th grade). Whether a student needs help improving their essays, brainstorming a story, expanding their vocabulary, or tackling math concepts, I’m here to help every step of the way.
As a side note, I’m also a published author of a historical fiction novel, which deepens my passion and insight when helping students grow as writers.
