My name is Abigail, I have worked with people of all ages with Developmental Disabilities. My focus is on the needs of each and every individual that I work, with, that they fully in their home, and community settings, fully participate through full inclusion and integration in the economic ,political, social, cultural, and educational sectors of society.
For several years I worked as an assistant teacher at West Haven High Collaborative program managing all activities and lesson plans assigned. I supported instruction with assistive and adaptive instructional technology. As an assistant teacher I was able to run small and large group lessons effectively. I understood and maintained a level of confidentiality regarding students that I worked with. I felt it was important for me to ensure that students assigned to me were maintaining positive behavior and reported any inappropriate interactions to my head teacher to make sure they were in compliance of their behavior plan. Fostering a sense of self worth and independence was one of my main objectives.
I feel that I am a great tutor because of my ability to be able to motivate and involve students in their individual lesson plans. I develop a good relationship with my students and parents. I take special interest and believe in my students. Monitoring students I feel is important, assessments is a part of teaching.
I feel as an assistant teacher working with ADHD, AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD) I tried to always maintain an environment conducive to learning. Assisted in maintaining an objective ongoing assessment of learner progress.
Assessing student progress with behavior management and providing oral and written feed back was essential. Also I assisted in the reinforcement of classroom therapeutic goals on a regular basis. I believe in the practice of putting the person as the focus of all ISP goals and other services.
To all potential students, I would love to get the chance to work with you. Learn about you yourself as a person, your likes and disli
