Hi! My name is Sean G. After graduating college in 2018, I taught high school chemistry (general chemistry and AP Chemistry) for one year before becoming a full-time tutor ever since then. I am also certified to teach high school physics. I love to learn about and teach science and especially enjoy 1-on-1 tutoring as it allows me to get to know my students well and build a working rapport.

My focus in tutoring is improving your understanding of the subject. For this reason, I don't help with homework, practice tests, or labs. It is important to practice, and I will give you opportunities to practice in our lessons, but I want to make sure the focus is on learning and not just completing an assignment. If you have a good understanding of the subject, you should be able to handle assignments yourself and do well on tests.

I am able to tutor high school, AP, and undergraduate college-level classes for chemistry and physics. Students who are interested in learning these subject(s) outside of an academic context are also welcome!

I also offer chess coaching to beginners and advanced beginners. I have played chess competitively but amateurly for about six years.

If you are looking for help learning and understanding chemistry, physics, and/or chess and think you would be a good fit with me, please send me a message!

Great teacher!

Sean was very patient and knew the material very well!!! As a teacher myself I overheard the way he taught my daughter and he was amazing and very clear. Will definitely us him again!

Confidence in AP

My H.S. sophomore is in AP Math and AP Chemistry, so he didn’t think he needed help. Then Chem started kicking his butt and in 2 sessions I can see his confidence and enthusiasm coming back. We had tried another tutor, a undergrad, but they just couldn’t do enough at this level.

Physics

Sean worked with my son on solving equations pertaining to kinematics. He did a great job breaking down the steps for him to understand the concepts before his quiz. Our son winded up doing very well on that portion of the quiz. We highly recommend Sean as a tutor!

Chemistry

Was able to help my son with the Chemistry math to the point where he could understand it and do the work on his own. I would use Sean again. He is very knowledgeable in the subject area.
