I have over 20 years of experience as an adjunct instructor. I grew up in North Canton and have returned here after living in Indiana, Nebraska, Michigan, New Jersey and New York. My B.A. is magna cum laude in history and political science from Capital University. I have both a J.D. (cum laude) and an M.B.A. from The Ohio State University. My second law degree, L.L.M., is in tax from New York University. I hold a license to practice law in five states although I am currently inactive in all but Ohio and New York. I passed all four parts of the CPA exam in my first sitting although my Ohio CPA license is currently inactive. I also have obtained a number of insurance industry designations, including CPCU, CLU, ARM and ten others.
If you did not already guess, I love to learn and study, and I am successful at taking tests. I also love to share this experience with my students, co-workers and tutees. My method is to break complex and confusing subject matter into easier- to-understand concepts, often using original charts, graphs or learning aids.

My daughter has never got an A on a Algebra test. After spending time with Sandra, my daugther got her first A! She is now getting more confident that she will in fact pass this course. None of this would have been possible without Sandra's kindness and help. We will continue to use Sandra. She is great. Thank You Sandra and someday when my daughter is a math Jedi she will always remember you.
I can't thank her enough! I consider myself to be a hardworking person - I've never (almost never) missed a class and have done my share of reading and studying (5 hour/day on this topic for three week). Then I was tutored by Sandra - she is so bright, so diligent and a honest hard-worker. She explains the extremely complex topic and maneuvers through the multiple exceptions with such ease - and that's when you have the aha moment :)! Thank you so much! I'd pay her a lot more than I spent on books and the time that I spent to teach myself this topic. She knows her stuff - that's what makes life easy when dealing with corporate and partnership tax. Yep, I will come back to be tutored when I do my CPA!
Sandra has done an outstanding job tutoring my 15-year-old son in Algebra. He says he understands the concepts much better now. She has been conscientious, thorough, and reliable, and very flexible when scheduling sessions. We plan to continue through the summer at least, establishing a firm foundation for next year's class.
Sandra has continued to be an excellent tutor for my son. She scheduled "emergency sessions" when necessary to prepare for the midterm final and the OGT, and I know she has made a big difference in his belief in himself. He is working his way through Geometry now. She has been patient and thorough in reviewing concepts with him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have passed the Bar Examinations in the States of Ohio, Indiana, New York and New Jersey. Each was passed on the first try.
I do not believe I can replace a bar review course such as BAR/BRI or others, but I can provide supplemental assistance with strategies to answer both Multi-State Questions and Essay Questions.
I have significant experience in public speaking including teaching, providing CLE seminars, and presentations to various groups in corporate settings.
I have helped numerous students in various academic areas develop better study skills. My methods include outlining the subject, using mnemonics and other memory aids, identifying the textbook source material that is most important, writing summaries. In my study skills I try to teach ways to understand the material using various learning methods, including action activities when possible.
I have developed a number of study skills I can share in obtaining my various degrees and certifications.
I have previously and currently provide tax preparation services for clients.
My education includes an LLM (an advanced law degree beyond the JD) from New York University in Tax. Additionally, I received an academic award with my JD degree for being the best student in the tax curriculum. My MBA degree also included tax accounting classes.
I am familiar and use the LUCERTE program for tax preparation.
