My name is Daniel. I am currently a junior-level student in Bowling Green State University's Adolescent to Young Adult Education Program with a specialization in the English Language Arts. My philosophy as an educator is based on a teacher's ability to ignite passion in a student's mind. I had teachers that helped me build my passion and understanding of our language arts. My goal is to help my students to become knowledgeable and possibly passionate about the same topics.
As part of my education as a prospective classroom teacher I have fulfilled the role as an assistant teacher in a 7th grade, freshman, and sophomore English Language Arts classrooms. As an assistant teacher my responsibility is to add to each students educational experience beyond what the classroom teacher is able to provide. This role gives me the chance give supplemental learning opportunities to students very similar to personal tutoring sessions.
My goal in this role is to help students grow their knowledge and skills based on the foundation that they already have. Supplemental education gives students the chance to exceed expectations. I aim to give every student the chance to exceed by not only knowing pieces of information, but actually gaining the ability to apply their knowledge to real world problems that they may encounter. Being able to create and use skills is what I believe to be one of the ultimate goals of education, and I wish to help each of my students achieve that goal.
