Hello! My name is Margaret, and I'm a multidisciplinary designer who loves helping prospective students put together compelling design portfolios and essays for graduate school.
I hold a BFA in Industrial Design from a top-ranked design university, and a dual Master of Architecture / Master of Landscape Architecture from an Ivy League institution. I recently completed a year-long U.S. Fulbright Student Scholarship, am a registered landscape architect, and am currently working toward my architecture licensure. I also achieved a perfect score (6/6) on the GRE analytical writing section.
Throughout my career I've been perpetually curious about design — which is why my own degrees kept expanding in scale: from small to large, from static to dynamic, from object to landscape. Working, studying, and teaching across these fields for 15+ years has taught me a lot about what reviewers actually value in a portfolio and application — whether you're applying to graduate school, a job, or a grant.
I've always loved mentoring. After graduate school I found myself naturally gravitating toward younger designers — in the offices I worked at (from NYC, to LA, to Boston), schools where I guest lectured, and through friends of friends who needed advice. I've volunteered as a design mentor at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels because to me, design is not just a career — it's a tool for helping people understand how they can contribute to the world around them.
I genuinely enjoy helping people strengthen their portfolios and applications because I know firsthand how hard it is to communicate to a stranger why your past experiences and interests make you the right fit — whatever you're applying for.
