Hello! My name is Jasmine, and I recently graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Human Biology through the Distinguished Majors Program, graduating with Highest Distinction. This fall, I will be attending the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. In standardized tests, I consistently score in the top 98th percentile (ACT score of 35, DAT score of 24). I contribute my success to not only understanding content, but also about learning effective study strategies, building confidence, and knowing how to ask the right questions. As a tutor, I aim to create a supportive environment for my students to gain all the skills above, where they can ask as many questions as they need.
My tutoring approach is highly individualized because every student learns differently. I incorporate active recall, practice problems, and personalized study techniques into my sessions, while adapting to each student’s strengths, goals, and learning style. I have experience tutoring students across multiple age groups and subjects, particularly in STEM areas including biology, chemistry, and math. In high school, I tutored elementary students for two years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many students in my district lost access to academic support, so I created a free virtual tutoring program for disadvantaged students in my district to help bridge educational gaps. I also spent years tutoring my younger siblings throughout middle school and high school, which strengthened my ability to explain difficult concepts in a patient and approachable way.
