I've acquired a variety of presidential books twenty in total including five complete biographies of George Washington, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, Harry S Truman, and John F. Kennedy. Also, Grant and Twain by Mark Perry, Madam President the secret presidency of Edith Wilson by William Hazelgrove, the Making of the President 1960 by Theodore White, Ike and Dick Portrait of a Strange political Marriage by Jeffrey Frank, Harold and Jack by Christopher Sandford. My background is reading about the U.S. presidents since I was twelve years old. My approach is twofold, teaching American
history through the American presidents, personalities and achievements, also humanizing these American Presidents to be more than simply names and dates, therefore for example, in William Hazelgrove's 2016 book the two years that President Woodrow Wilson was incapacitated by a Stroke and Mrs. Wilson stepped in to finish out the last two years of the Wilson Administration is finally told in detail.
For example, the 2009 reissue of Theodore White's book The making of the president 1960 has a foreword by the noted Presidential historian Robert Dallek which offers insight into this winner of the Pulitzer Prize forty-nine years after its initial publication. For example, Jeffrey Frank's book Ike and Dick offers insight into the most fascinating dynamic between President and Vice-President. In conclusion, for the interested student there is a rich vein of presidential history to find out about.
