To Whom it May Concern: I look forward to the opportunity to work in an innovative and multicultural environment. Students of all cultures will benefit from my experience not only in English Language Arts but in the Dramatic Arts as well. My teaching style is bold and motivational and with my language background, I can also communicate well with those students whose L1 is not English. I enjoy challenging as well as socially enriched students; a setting filled with diverse individuals and ideas.
As my resume will substantiate, I have had a diverse and well-rounded teaching career to date, excelling in the arts and other languages. I can teach English as a Second Language and enjoy teaching abroad and meeting people from all cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds.
I’ve worked for 6 years in an International Baccalaureate Middle High School and have had the benefit of experiencing a close community of creative professionals whose work ethic was superb. I taught children of mixed ability for many years and learned a lot about encouraging positive interaction among them throughout my teaching career. In the interim, I had the opportunity to take a 6 week CELTA (Certification in Teaching English Language to Adults) course in Sicily, sponsored by Cambridge University. I also lived and worked in an agritourismo for two years while teaching part time in a creative language school in Siena, Italy and enjoyed the experience immensely.
I resumed my teaching position in the U.S. and enjoyed a short stint as a summer adjunct graduate professor. The course’s objective was to teach new educators a variety of literacy strategies in all the content areas.
Recently, I returned from Scotland, where I received my General Teaching Certification with the General Teaching Council in Scotland. I also worked for a year in Essex, England and truly enjoyed my post. I managed to help my students to progress another level towards their end of year target for their GCSE exams.
