Bio

I have, for decades, had a passion for teaching people of all ages and backgrounds in a number of different disciplines including, but not limited to, voice, speech and public speaking. Based on my experience I feel that it is of the utmost importance that the teacher/student relationship be one where the student feels relaxed, safe and supported. I have, for decades, had a passion for teaching people of all ages and backgrounds in a number of different disciplines including, but not limited to, voice, speech and public speaking. Based on my experience I feel that it is of the utmost importance that the teacher/student relationship be one where the student feels relaxed, safe and supported. Beyond one's ability to teach whatever the discipline is, being able to communicate and be effective can happen best when the dynamic is mutually open, fun, receptive, safe and ethically appropriate.

I am and have been a working professional in the entertainment field for over 35 years. I have played principal roles in many Broadway shows, national tours and top regional theaters across the country and overseas. I have recorded numerous cast albums and sung as a soloist at concert halls throughout New York and the U.S. and have been nominated for a number of different awards. As a voice teacher I am a member of the New York Singing Teacher's Association (NYSTA) and have taught at NYU's Tisch and CAP 21 and at Carnegie Mellon's pre-college program in addition to many private clients.

My entire training and professional career has essentially been about being a highly effective communicator and for over a decade I have partnered with Kennon International (kennon.org) who specialize in training professionals in all fields in the areas of public speaking, media skills ,coaching for performers and executive training. I am a BFA honors graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and BA in English graduate of UC Berkeley.

Having worked professionally in the entertainment industry at the highest levels for most of my life I have been able to use that experience to work with many students to hone their ability to speak effectively and improve their skills which include, among others, the proper and most effective use of voice, body, energy, presentation, preparation and organization. I have worked with students and working professionals in many fields including politics.

I have, for the past decade, partnered with Kennon International who besides specializing in media skills and presentation, also focuses on public speaking. This includes training individuals for campaign speeches, keynote addresses, motivational speeches, commencement addresses and other individual speeches.

I am long time member in good standing with The New York Singing Teacher's Association. I am a BFA honors graduate from Carnegie Mellon University in voice and theatre. In addition I have taught at the NYU Tisch and CAP 21 programs and the pre-college program for Carnegie Mellon University. Professionally I have sung in principal roles in numerous Broadway and Off Broadway shows as well as concert venues in New York City and around the country.
