I am a determined scholar with a love for people and a fascination for the human experience. As a child growing up in rural Lagos, Nigeria, I found solitude in the oral traditions that my family carefully kept up. The stories, whether real or fictional, maintained rich qualities that will stick with me forever. I have grown to empathize with the desolate and advocate for the downtrodden. I have also become deeply curious, analytical, and have the stamina to fail repeatedly and staying power. Entering college, unbeknowing of how my life will play out, of what major to select, I just knew that I needed to help those people. Thus my life goal became to help protect the well-being of others and to build a career out of it.
I have extensive training and experience in tutoring in writing, english, reading, and vocabulary. I began to tutor in the Penn State Writing Center during my sophomore year and I have had a successful track record in ensuring students achieve academic success in their specific context: whether they are focused on a paper or improving their overall grade.
I have had a keen academic interest in this subject area for 8+ years and it prompted me to pursue an undergraduate degree in it.
I began my tutoring career as a guitar tutor. I fell in love with playing guitar at a young age and was glad to share my love for it.
Every subject area that I have mentioned, I have both personal and academic interests in them. I have a combination of technical ability and understanding, coupled with personal interests, so it will feel less like a "tutoring session" and more of a time which we explore specific aspects of the subject to maximize the student's learning potential.
