Throughout my academic training, I found that the classes I performed best in were those where complex material was presented clearly, engagingly, and with purpose. That experience strongly shaped how I approach teaching today.
In my tutoring sessions, I focus on building a strong conceptual foundation before introducing details. When available, I use a course’s learning objectives or syllabus as a roadmap to help students understand expectations and focus on high-yield material, especially in dense courses like biology or anatomy and physiology. I often introduce topics using real-world or clinical examples and reinforce learning through guided questions and active participation. I also incorporate creative mnemonics and memory aids to make studying more enjoyable, because I believe learning is most effective when it is both structured and engaging.
While I have not formally taught in a traditional classroom setting, I have extensive experience explaining scientific and medical concepts through my work as an Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, undergraduate researcher, and student leader. These roles required clear communication, adaptability, and ensuring understanding under pressure. I enjoy working with high school and college students who feel overwhelmed or unsure where to begin, and my goal is to help them build confidence, strengthen comprehension, and develop study strategies they can use independently.
