My name is Mariel P. I am a graphic designer with a background in branding identity, advertising, editorial, exhibition and web design.
In 2012, I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from SUNY Purchase College. For two years, I worked as the yearbook Editor-in-chief at my college; acting as a leader, building an efficient team, assigning staff individual roles and duties, meeting deadlines and overseeing the yearbook's progress. As editor, I gained a talent for photo editing and layout design. As a senior in college, I worked as the head student graphic designer for the Office of Admissions at Purchase College. I designed mailings, event programs and brochures. I also worked as a Resident Community Assistant where, in addition to serving as a resident assistant to my peers, I designed event flyers and posters for on-campus programs. For my senior thesis project, I exhibited my work in a week-long exhibition called "International Express." In it, I explored the immigrant neighborhoods along the No. 7 subway line in Queens through a series of designed posters and informational booklets.
After graduation, I worked for several small design firms utilizing my talents in company branding and web design as well as working for a local periodical and media company, designing print and web advertisements. Today, I am aspiring to advance as a designer and expand my skill set. I am a self-taught web designer and look forward to get more involved in the medium.
I have a passion for design and would be happy to help!
