Hello, I am Connor. I graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 2020 and graduated cum laude from Stony Brook University in 2024 with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and am currently applying to medical school. When it comes to my test taking credentials, I was able to land a 603 on the 2016 SHSAT, a 1540 on the 2018 SHSAT, and a 518 on the July 2025 MCAT, which came were achieved with self studying.
For the most part, I have mainly tutored family members and friends, but did volunteer as a tutor back in high school, helping with SHSAT tutoring. I really like to take a unique approach to teaching, often trying to explain terms in ways most relevant to the personalities of the people I have helped, which often has led to great results. My focus is for the people I help to have a deep grasp of the concepts and to be able to use said concepts to reinforce other areas. Examples of such an approach would be when I teach 2D kinematics and utilize football as a way to apply my student's love of NFL to physics. I also try my best to pin point my student's current level of understanding and try to work their understanding to a level where they feel confident to tackle problems on their own.
While I am mainly a tutor for the math and sciences, I can offer feedback on writing pieces if need be. For editing, I do like to really fuel my student's passion for their writing and besides grammar suggestions, give content suggestions that will direct a piece of writing in an elevated direction.
Overall, I have built my own academic career from the ground up and from the trial and error I have done to get to where I am, I can offer a tutoring experience that caters to a wide range of students. I really find meaning in making students feel confident in their own abilities and to go into their classroom with their heads held high.
