Hi! My name is Camila.
I am a childhood education educator currently working with kids ranging in ages 6 months -5 years and have specialized in these ages for over 7 years. I am passionate about teaching languages to all ages and levels, and genuinely believe anyone can learn any language, at any time.

Hi! My name is Camila.
I am a childhood education educator currently working with kids ranging in ages 6 months -5 years and have specialized in these ages for over 7 years. I am passionate about teaching languages to all ages and levels, and genuinely believe anyone can learn any language, at any time.
Having gone through the struggle of having to learn a new language when I came to the U.S., and learning English in elementary school, I understand the challenges students face when facing the same scenario.
I graduated High School with an International Baccalaureate, and was accepted into the National Honor Society for Latin, French and Spanish.
I tutor in ESL because I have been through the program myself and finished the program successfully within less than a year.
Over the years in my experience teaching languages, I've had the pleasure to have tutored students from all over the world; English, Chinese, German, French!

I am a Lehman College graduate with a BA in Early Childhood Education. I have worked with students for over 7 years ranging from Pre-K and beyond in a variety of subjects in which they have needed support. I have helped students of all grades and levels in elementary school with their material ranging from reading, ESL, foreign language and writing. Through lessons together, students have reached and surpassed their learning expectations in their given subjects. I have more than 7 years experience working with young children, providing fun and engaging lessons through which they thrive in learning.

Having to learn the English language coming from a Spanish-speaking country was a huge challenge for me. At the same time, I am grateful for both the experience and struggle of it all. Because I had to be taught the English language formally, I learned mechanics, literary tools, writing styles, etc... in a very concentrated and demanding manner. I was taught how to speak and then how to write in English in a very dynamic & sophisticated way when I was still very young which has led me to become a very fluid and able writer. My writing has been awarded by the state and other organizations within New York and I have helped many students realize their potential and abilities with regards to writing, reading and understanding the English language.

Having gone through the ESL program myself, about 10 years ago, I am able to understand students' struggles and help them overturn the challenges they are facing into goals & help them get to where they need to be. With a record-time finishing the program for my elementary school, I was able to then move forward in my learning to then become an International Baccalaureate graduate, a National Honor Society for Romance Languages award-holder in French, Latin and Spanish, and currently a French and Childhood Education Major at Lehman College. It only takes a willingness to try new methods, a need to attempt new things, and a want to stick with it as well as some time to get things done. I have worked with students from around the world get to where they need to be within the English language, from all levels and with all different skills and needs. Anyone can learn English!

Born and raised in Lima, Peru, I attended an Anglo-French school and was introduced to the French language. Fast-forward a couple of years and I am proficient in the language. I am a French major and an Early-Childhood Education minor at Lehman College. Awarded with the National Honor Society in Romance Languages, I have held the title for French, Spanish and Latin for all 4 years of High School. An International Baccalaureate graduate, I understand ways of thinking and collaboration with students to help them find their ways on their own, something that once learned is hard to take away.

Having been taught all the above mentioned languages in a formal manner and as a beginner, I quickly learned how to identify and correct my own mistakes while writing. With the help of a proficient tutor, proofreading can be done to secure our important documents, proposals, formal letters are executed to their best ability. I have been proofreading colleagues' documents for over 5 years and in over a variety of working environments, from casual to highly corporate.

Born and raised in Peru, I became fluent in the Spanish Language and have used it all my life. I have been through the struggle of learning new languages, coming to the US was a big one for example, and having to learn the complex English language was tough! And I get it! It only takes patience and a willingness to learn different tongues as well as some time to get the hang of it. It only helps that I am a Childhood Education major, we have the most patience!!

Learning English as a new language when I was 10 years old was a difficult thing to do, but the experience opened up an opportunity for me to understand the language in a way that others hadn't been given the chance to. I already knew Spanish and some French and I was able to comprehend the language by learning it from scratch at an older age. Through this experience and these circumstances, I was forced to learn grammar, and the mechanics of writing the right way, which later helped me understand other languages even better. I can now say that I understand the English language at a higher level than before as I have helped students of all ages and backgrounds understand the English way of writing as well.
