By tutoring students, I became aware that not every student learns information the same way and I have to develop a study plan that works for them. I enjoy helping students learn and believe that I can show them different ways to study.

ACT Math

ACT Math

This course is designed to guide students through strategies that will help them prepare well for the ACT Test. This course is recommended for Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors who plan to take the ACT test in the next nine months.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

The main goal of this course is to provide students with a thorough and extensive study of linear and quadratic functions and graphing on the xy-coordinate system. By the end of this course, students will have all the knowledge necessary to solve and graph equations and inequalities. They will also be able to apply this knowledge to other areas of math, such as word problems, ratios and proportions. The course starts off with a quick review of basic algebraic concepts, such as variables, order of operations, exponents and problem solving skills. They will gain a thorough introduction to functions, the basis of all of algebra and higher mathematics, such as calculus. Students will learn how to solve linear equations, including multistep equations, equations with multiple variables and equations involving decimals, as well as write a linear equation based on the graph of a line. The IES Algebra 1 course also gives the students a thorough introduction of functions and quadratic equations. They will learn all the operations associated with the two, such as factoring and graphing. The end of the course takes the students’ knowledge of algebra 1 one step further by introducing them to some basic concepts of geometry. The skills learned in this course will help the student through school work, and will provide a thorough algebraic background for all standardized testing, including the NJASK, HSPA, PSAT and the SAT.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

This course is designed to build on algebraic and geometric concepts. It develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, quadratics, and concepts and includes the study of trigonometric functions. It also introduces matrices and their properties. The content of this course are important for students’ success on both the ACT and college mathematics entrance exams. Students who complete Algebra II should take Pre-Calculus next.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have tutoring experience that includes volunteering and paid jobs.
GED

GED

This course is designed to review the areas of reading, writing, and math and practice test-taking techniques.
GRE

GRE

I am taking numerous challenging math classes and getting certifications in high-level math subjects.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

The goal of this course is to explain the concept of numbers and how they are manipulated, managed, and represented on the xy-coordinate system. The crucial skills gained in this course include analysis of numerical relations and spatial-visual understanding of graphing principles. The skills they learn in this course will stay with them throughout higher math education, and will prove useful in standardized testing, such as the NJASK, PSAT and SAT. The pre-algebra course centers on building the foundations of the student’s algebra. They will be introduced to variables, expressions, order of operations and basic problem solving skills. The course also introduces students to absolute value, the coordinate plane and different algebraic properties. The students will then build on this basic knowledge by learning how to solve multi-step equations and inequalities and the complex algebraic functions that accompany them, such as exponents. They will build on their existing knowledge of fractions by examining ratios, proportions and probability, and converting to/from decimals. Additionally, students will be introduced to percents and problems requiring the application of percents.
Precalculus

Precalculus

This course is designed to cover topics in Algebra ranging from polynomial, rational, and exponential functions to conic sections. Trigonometry concepts such as Law of Sines and Cosines will be introduced. Students will then begin analytic geometry and calculus concepts such as limits, derivatives, and integrals. This class is important for any student planning to take a college algebra or college pre-calculus class.
SAT Math

SAT Math

The class is designed to prepare students to attack the math sections of the SAT with confidence. The course guides the student to review, expand, and utilize their understanding of high school level math from a more intuitive perspective which is distinctive to the design of SAT problems. This is the key to higher SAT scores.

Amazing tutor, very patient!

Nino made my math problems understandable. She took her time and broke down the problems step by step. As much as I hate math, she made it enjoyable.

Excellent Tutor!

Nino tutored my son for 2 hours and made a tremendous amount of progress with him! She is a very good tutor. While teaching/ tutoring, she made sure to check in frequently to check for learning and ensure he was understanding. She also allowed time for him to process the information and a few moments of silence from time to time for him to really look at the problem and think it through. I appreciate that she used various techniques to ensure comprehension!
