ACT English

I review the fundamentals included in the ACT English Test: punctuation, grammar and usage, sentence structure, strategy, organization. We will cover the Usage/Mechanics and Rhetorical Skills portions of the test.

Adobe Illustrator

I review the fundamentals of Adobe Illustrator environment including including working with layers, vectors, points and effects. I provide techniques to facilitate effective content development and design.

Adobe Photoshop

I review the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop CS6 environment, including image editing,  creating vector graphics and utilizing effect panels. Learn about special features and creative techniques to enhance your design sense. Learn how to build websites using Photoshop. I am a graphic design professional utilizing the software on a daily basis.

Animation

I taught animation using Adobe Flash at the Katherine Gibbs School, now SBI Campus and Briarcliffe colleges for 4 years. I now use it as part of the multimedia projects I create at the media firm I work with. I can help students navigate the flash environment: including the timeline, keyframes, layers and library. Students will learn how to turn objects into symbols that can be animated along with sound effects, music and other types of audio.

Grammar

I cover fundamentals of Grammar including: parts of speech, punctuation, subject/verb agreement, word confusion and spelling.

Graphic Design

I have a been a design and media professional since 2004. I utilize it regularly in my own design business. I have a MA in Communications. I have taught design at Briarcliffe and Sanford Brown colleges (formerly Katherine Gibbs). I understand the fundamentals and applications of Adobe products and other design software and can confidently train others.

Microsoft PowerPoint

Learn more about designing presentations in PowerPoint. I will teach you how to add media elements such as music and video. Add excitement to your show with special effects customized to your preferences.

Microsoft Word

Here is what you can learn: 1. Formatting documents: I can show you how to format your essays, reports, and assignments with features like headers, footers, margins, and line spacing. We can also explore ways to use font styles, sizes, and colors effectively. 2. Creating and organizing headings: I can teach you how to use headings to structure and organize your documents. This will make it easier for you to navigate and create table of contents. 3. Tables and data organization: We can go over how to create tables, format them, and use formulas for calculations. This can come in handy for presenting data, organizing information, and performing calculations within your documents. 4. Inserting and formatting images: I can show you how to insert images, adjust their size and position, and wrap text around them. This is especially useful for incorporating visual elements into your reports or presentations. 5. Collaboration and reviewing: We can explore how to use features such as track changes, comments, and document sharing to collaborate with classmates or professors on a document, making it easier to receive feedback and make revisions.

Reading

I begin by reviewing the parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives etc. Identifying purpose in the content and helping students being able to explain the main idea. I also integrate creative activities such as word-finds, fill-ins and crosswords. Additionally, I have found that having students write their own stories in a journal enhances the process.

SAT Writing

I cover key components of SAT Writing test including the writing, multiple choice, and essay sections. We review grammar, sentence structure and paragraph creation. I provide techniques to facilitate effective content development.
