For nearly a decade I have helped middle school, high school, and college students succeed in science. While working at the American Museum of Natural History as an educator I taught a variety of classes that made science fun and accessible. As a private tutor, I focus on biology and chemistry, including honors, AP, and IB classes.

I am detail oriented and patient with a talent for clear and effective communication. I love the moment when a student's eyes light up with sudden understanding and they are ready to take the next leap forward. I take a careful, personalized approach to tutoring, paying attention to the individual needs of my students and crafting a curriculum that works for them. I am creative and adaptable, always ready with an alternative explanation or another resource.

In addition to general content review, homework help, and preparation for AP and IB Biology and Chemistry tests, I offer support for high school student who are interested in publishing their science research or literature reviews in peer-reviewed journals. I have successfully helped students publish in the Journal of Emerging Investigators, National High School Journal of Science, Journal of Science High School, and Curieux. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are interested in learning more.

One of a kind educator

After my first biochemistry exam, I felt defeated and discouraged. I wasn't completely sold on having a tutor either. However, after my session with Gabrielle, I feel as though I am actually falling in love with what I am learning. She creates an open environment to speak freely, and ask questions. She also explains complex concepts and ideas through analogies, and pictures. When it comes to biochemistry, I often feel like I lose sight of the biological overview and get lost through the many pathways and details- But throughout the entire session, Gabrielle never failed to explain the biological context, and why things were important to know and understand. In addition to being patient and encouraging, she was also empathetic to my troubles as a Master's student. I now feel supported, and hopeful for the next exam. Gabrielle is truly one of a kind, I highly recommend.

Very Informed and Patient Tutor: Gabrielle R.

Gabrielle explains concepts very thoroughly, and worked very patiently with me to ensure that I fully understood everything she was saying. She also works at a good pace so that we don't spend too much time on one subject, while also spending enough time to be able to think about each concept in depth and relate each concept to one another. She helped me grasp the concepts of enzyme mapping, gel electrophoresis and the formation of phosphodiester bonds, which I had trouble with prior to my meeting with her. The diagrams she makes are very helpful, and she manages to work through problems very quickly. She's also just very nice, and I would recommend her to anyone having trouble with biology!

Highly Recommend

Gabrielle tutored me in my undergraduate biochemistry course this past semester, and I could not have done it without her! We reviewed my notes together each week and Gabrielle explained the course material to ensure I understood the full picture of each concept. She shared relevant videos, images, and diagrams to supplement my notes and helped me through practice exam questions. Gabrielle was knowledgeable about the material, an engaging teacher, and patient. Thanks to her help, I ended up with an A in the course and feel better prepared for the biochemistry section of the MCAT too. I highly recommend Gabrielle's tutoring services!

Fantastic Biology tutor!

Gabrielle is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. In just 2 one-hour sessions, she has given my 9th grader confidence in the subject of Living Environment. We are so happy with Gabrielle that we have set up a regular weekly appointment with her!

Knowledgeable, patient and dependable

Gabrielle worked patiently to help my son, organize his research and then write a 10 page paper, in an extremely short amount of time. She helped make writing the paper an extremely less stressful process for him. She's very responsible, smart and kind and if I could give her a 10 Star rating instead of the maximum 5 Star, I would.
