I am a college professor of chemistry & have over 10 years of experience with tutoring in chemistry. While I initially struggled in my first chemistry course, my teacher helped me find the study strategy and analogies that helped me to understand the material, and I soon began to excel! The rest is history—from then on, I knew I wanted to teach others and help them understand and gain confidence in what I once thought to be an impossible subject. As someone who initially struggled with chemistry, I pride myself on my ability to offer multiple different explanations and approaches for understanding the same concept. I love seeing the lightbulb go off above a student’s head when they finally understand a topic, seeing their confidence grow over time, and eventually having them propose alternative explanations or perspectives that end up teaching ME new ways to look at a problem. I have provided over 1,000 hours of tutoring at the high school and college levels.
I earned my B.S. in Chemistry from UCLA in 2020, and my Ph.D. in Chemistry from UMN in 2025. Despite being a recent graduate, I have undergone extensive training to hone my teaching approach and skillset. My efforts have earned me recognitions and opportunities such as a curriculum development teaching assistant position in my first year of graduate school, through which I redesigned an advanced organic chemistry laboratory course, the Spring 2022 Excellence in Teaching Award (awarded to 1 Teaching Assistant at the university per semester) for teaching that same course, and the rare honor of teaching my own 350-person organic chemistry I lecture at UMN as a graduate student (teaching evaluations available upon request.) I have additionally received pedagogical training through Preparing Future Faculty programs at UMN as well as Lafayette College. I am currently applying my expertise to developing and teaching my own organic & inorganic lecture and laboratory courses at Adelphi University.
