Jonathan B., a native of Carthage, New York, is a professional French Horn player specializing in technical, orchestral, solo, and chamber studies. Jonathan B., a native of Carthage, New York, is a professional French Horn player specializing in technical, orchestral, solo, and chamber studies. Mr. B. began studying with Metropolitan Opera Principal Horn Joseph Anderer before and during his studies at New York University. During his freshman year at NYU, Mr. B. met and began studying with the New York Philharmonic Principal Horn Philip Myers. During the middle of his second year, Mr. B. took a medical leave of absence to have maxillofacial surgery to correct a receded upper jaw in order to continue his studies, which took over a year and a half. Mr. B. returned to NYU and finished his time there while learning the horn from scratch.
Since his time at NYU, Mr. B. has continued studying with Philip Myers to finalize his technique and general mastery of the French Horn. In 2019, Mr. B. successfully auditioned for the Haute école de Musique de Lausanne in Fribourg, Switzerland. Currently his home base is located in Rochester, New York.
Mr. B. possesses the tools necessary to get an individual that has never played French Horn to a professional level and everywhere in between. His methods are directly passed down from one of the best horn players in the world and have a personal aspect to them as he has learned to play from scratch to a professional level with them as well. Mr. B. has a degree from a prominent University in the world and has performance and audition experience.
