Improve Your Language Skills: English or Russian

I have been tutoring privately for over five years. Before this, I taught English and Russian at a high-profile high school in the Washington, DC, Metro Area, where my students went on to win writing contests, Russian language contests, and to be published. Some have become journalists. Others gained the confidence to draft a solid college essay response to the Common Application, while others felt they had grown as writers in a given semester. I tutor a range of students, from 7th Grade to College Level. My students range from the children of U.S. Diplomats to newly arrived immigrants to 7th Graders who want to improve their English skills. My students are from all types of economic backgrounds.

What is important to me is that each student feels like some progress has been made by the end of each session. Often I will offer a session summary for parents, when possible, so that we remember what was covered and where growth occurred. I want the students to have a positive experience. I am probably best described as a strong long-term language coach for English, ESOL, or Russian.

My classroom experience stems from 25+ years of working with students. My subjects were Honors English, Inclusion English, ESOL, and Russian Language, all levels (1, 2, 3 and 3 Honors, 4 and 4 Honors, 5 Honors, and AP-level [NEWL Exam Preparation]. It takes many years to master Russian Language and students must have patience when working with this language.
