Bio

I am a medical student at Rutgers NJMS. I am passionate about lifestyle / preventive medicine, and was the associate producer / writer for a documentary about the urgent need to shake up the status quo in medical education to reflect the tremendous body of lit that tells us how our daily choices matter in the fight against chronic disease.

I am also a writer for Medscape, and a founder of a nonprofit.

I graduated from Boston College and completed a BS with a double major in biology and music with a pre-med concentration. My science/math coursework includes general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, molecular biology, endocrinology, neuroscience, physiology, advanced genetics and neurobiology, molecular toxicology, calculus, and statistics. My high school coursework included AP Biology, AP Spanish, AP U.S. History, AP Lang & Comp, AP Lit, AP Music Theory, and AP Calculus.

I am an experienced tutor offering compassionate, reliable, and EFFECTIVE teaching/tutoring for elementary, middle school and high school students in addition to adult tutoring in your home, or at your local library!

I have taught children and young adults of all ages. I have tutored college students, math and language arts/reading comprehension to elementary school children, and have worked with junior and senior high school young adults at some of Boston's most prestigious private schools. I also have extensive personal statement/essay editing experience for college apps.

I have also tutored adults in ESL, and have tutored GED math and verbal components.

Finally, I am an experienced piano teacher and amateur performer with extensive NYSSMA experience- beginner through intermediate (Certificate in Piano Pedagogy, Hofstra University, 2004)

In high school, I won the AP biology award. At Boston College I received my BS with a double major in biology and music. Since then I have worked in biomedical research, first in signal transduction research, and then in bacterial pathogenesis. I have been published in a few of the world's most prominent science journals. I have an in-depth understanding of biological mechanisms, and have the unique ability to integrate real-world uses of biological processes that bring the material to life, and make it more manageable and more memorable.
