I graduated in 2009 from SUNY Oswego with a B.S. in Adolescent Education and English. I graduated in 2013 from SUNY New Paltz with a Masters of Education in Special Education and Literacy. I have been teaching special education for almost a decade, and specialize in reading intervention. The students I work with all have IEPs, and most have learning disabilities, ADHD, ODD, Autism, and other related disabilities and disorders. Outside of teaching, I’ve always been great with kids. I always end up with a good rapport with my students, and I was a director at a summer camp prior to graduating from college. I have tutored students 1:1 in this time frame as well, from 6th grade all the way up to adult. I am hard-working, dependable, and determined to make sure each student I work with feels confident, increases their skill set, and above all feels that it was a good experience to keep the student wanting to learn. I’m also trained in using a basic reading inventory, which determines a student’s independent reading level based on reading rate, miscue analysis, fluency, and reading comprehension.

Common Core

Common Core

Being a recent graduate from SUNY New Paltz with a Masters in Education, Common Core was the staple of our lessons. We used Common Core to create our lesson plans for our classes as well as our student teaching. From there I taught Reading AIS in a middle school that incorporated Common Core. In my current setting, I am working closely with our administration in order to align with common core standards in our school's curriculum.

Phonics

Phonics

I have a Masters in Literacy Education that included training in working on phonics with students who struggle in reading. During this training we were required to participate in a literacy clinic, in which we were paired with students. With these students we had to diagnose their reading deficiencies, do weeks of remediation, and diagnose next steps to take.

I've also got several strategies in my repertoire for working with reading problems including, but not limited to, RADD, literary blogs, EasyCBM, etc.

Theater

Theater

As an English major in college, I took several theatre classes. While student teaching in Pawling, I helped direct the fall drama, as well as taught a period of theater class. I read plays constantly. I also was in an improv troupe in college, and performed every Saturday night. My roommate in college was also a theater major, so I often ran lines with her, and performed in a scene she needed to direct for her class.

Always prepared and works at my daughter's pace

Tracy is wonderful! Right from the start she determined what type of learner my daughter is and she uses materials that my daughter really connects to. Tracy is up to date on the latest apps and websites that supports what is reviewed during their sessions. Tracy is really tuned in with how to help my daughter overcome the challenges she has due to her ADHD. We are very lucky to have found her!
