I have worked as a substitute teacher in the Wantagh School District for over five years teaching the following subjects: physical science, living environment, Italian, and pre-algebra. Privately, I have been tutoring SAT/ACT/GMAT students, middle and high school students in chemistry, algebra, living environment and elementary school students in math.

The parents of the students that I have worked with have been pleased with the one to one attention that I have given their children and with the results. I personalize my instruction to the students' interests to make the subject matter more relevant to their point of reference.

I am passionate about learning and enjoy when the individuals pick up on this enthusiasm and revisit the subject matter we are studying with a new perspective.

In the course of my academic studies, I have learned how to take a subject and break it down into its smaller components. I have found that it is easier to learn a more complex topic when the fundamentals are more secure. I am a firm believer in the use of a calendar to prioritize events which then helps in time management. I also work on goal setting and categorizing them according to short term, medium term and long term goals and then what has to be done to achieve these goals. Therefore, I use a calendar for mapping out academic work in order of due date, the work involved and goal settings to help the individual focus on what they want to do and how they can go about achieving their goals.

Knowledgable and Patient Tutor

Mona is a very responsive tutor. Flexible with the scheduling and promptly answers any questions you may have. She helped my son navigate and prepare for the ELA portion of the SAT exam. She is very understanding and encouraging with students who have IEP’s in place. Highly recommend!

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

I was extremely happy with Mona her tutoring. She was extremely prepared and was ready to teach the lesson. She specifically valued our time and I was really grateful for that. She adjusted her teaching style to my son’s extreme shyness. Thank you Mona!

Great Lesson

Chemistry Help

I reached out to Mona because my daughter had begun to struggle with the material in her Honors Chemistry class. My daughter felt that half way through her first tutoring session with Mona things began to click. Her confidence level was high taking her next quiz the following day, and with good reason, 100% on the quiz. The anticipation is that Mona will be helping out with Algebra coursework as well. I expect similar improvement. Patience, thoroughness, and genuine caring, all you can ask for in a tutor. No wonder her ratings are through the roof.

A blessing in disguise

As a parent you hope you can find the right tutor. My daughter started late and we only had 10 days to work with. I think we had 6 lessons, and our tutor was well prepared and organized and gave my daughter practice sheets in which Mona reviewed before the lesson. She also gave my daughter tools to prepare her for the test.

Altruistic, Learned Tutor

Mona was a patient, altruistic and knowledgeable tutor, whose main goal was for me to succeed. In the beginning of August, I was getting nervous for my exams coming up, but not to fret, Mona was always reassuring; she went on to send me reviews for the concepts we had went over and proved to me that I had come so far in this, and not to give up. In only two months of tutoring, we had went through the entirety of the Algebra II curriculum. She put in several hours of work to my specific needs, and for that she was amazing. Even after I achieved great scores on my exams, she helped me with my AP work for statistics. She would constantly go out of her way for my success; no matter if it be 10:30 at night, or 6 in the morning. I would definitely recommend Mona to anyone looking for an affordable tutor with a vast knowledge on several subjects!

Mona is extremely dedicated, thorough and personal

She sees the area of target immediately Mona is consistent and expects the same in return but she is able to pace accordingly to connect with the individual she is working with. Best Choice!!!
