Hello! I’m Janine, an undergraduate at Brown University studying Business Economics with a strong background in English, writing, and the humanities. Since December 2024, I have completed more than 600 hours of one-on-one tutoring and academic coaching through Wyzant and my independent practice. On Wyzant, I have worked with 50+ students and earned 96 five-star ratings across 314 hours of instruction. I support middle and high school students with SAT and ACT preparation, AP English, academic writing, reading comprehension, college essays, and broader academic coaching.

My approach is highly individualized. I begin by learning about each student’s academic history, goals, interests, working style, and current understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. I then examine how they reason through questions, organize ideas, interpret texts, and translate their thoughts into writing. From there, I build practical frameworks they can apply independently. Depending on the student, our work may include identifying recurring test-taking errors, strengthening analytical writing, developing a personal-statement narrative, or creating systems for productivity, planning, and professional communication. For college essays, I help students uncover what is distinctive about their experiences and perspective while preserving their natural voice.

I earned 5s on AP English Language, AP English Literature, and AP Research, along with a 36 in ACT English and a 34 in ACT Reading. Just as importantly, I work hard to make sessions comfortable, engaging, and productive. Students often tell me they enjoy working with me, while parents value my organization, attention to detail, and consistent follow-up. Whether you need focused help with one assignment or longer-term academic coaching, I would be excited to learn about your goals and develop an approach that works for you!

Incredibly Helpful

Janine helped my daughter with her AP English Lit essay. She was quick to get back to us and was incredibly helpful with helping her structure her essay. My daughter found the hour long session very collaborative and was just the push she needed to finish her essay. Could not be happier with Janine's help.
