Bio

I have been a State certified teacher and have been teaching Math at the High school and College level for more than 20 years. I have had tremendous success in both teaching and tutoring. I am a trained teacher and hold a Trained Class One Grade One Certificate in Teaching. I have a Bachelors Degree in Education with a Major in Mathematics and a Masters Degree in Pure Mathematics. I have been a State certified teacher and have been teaching Math at the High school and College level for more than 20 years. I have had tremendous success in both teaching and tutoring. I am a trained teacher and hold a Trained Class One Grade One Certificate in Teaching. I have a Bachelors Degree in Education with a Major in Mathematics and a Masters Degree in Pure Mathematics. When I applied to do my Master's Degree I was told I should complete the Undergraduate Degree in Mathematics before going on to the Masters Program in Pure Mathematics. I was told teachers do not do a Pure Math Degree but a Degree in Math Education. However, with further dialogue, I was allowed to conditionally register for the Master's program in Pure Mathematics.

Three semesters later I was a Bendel Medallist winner for my performance in the three advanced level classes after which I was fully matriculated. Subsequently after, many graduate students who were working full time and wanted to pursue a Degree in Mathematics were recommended to speak to me about the task at hand.I have received several other accolades for my performance in College and Universities. In college, I was awarded The Best Graduating student in Mathematics and Best All Round Student. In my Bachelor's Program, I was twice, first and third years awarded highest GPA in the Faculty of Education. I was also awarded best third-year teacher (based on GPA) by the Teacher's Union.

Teaching has been and still is my passion. There is no better feeling than to hear the success stories of students with whom I have worked and helped along the way. It brings me great joy to be able to talk about these students and some of the hurdles we overcame along their path to success. Without the many great teachers that I have had I will not be anywhere near what I am today. It is now time for me to give back even more to the many desperate students out there.

Many of the students I have tutored are currently attending prestigious colleges like MIT, NYU, Columbia University, Cornell, and Brown to name a few. I have gotten students to increase their scores by as much as 100 points in the math section alone. Many of my students have gotten 800 in the Math 1 and Math 2 exams.

Excellent coaching and skill building

Lal worked with our 13 year old daughter over 2 lessons to help build her awareness and basic skills in volleyball in preparation for her school team tryouts. While Lal is first and foremost a math tutor, and clearly is deeply committed to helping students improve their math skills, we found him to be incredibly engaged, a clear communicator, and he helped to build our daughter’s understanding of volleyball. He also was very helpful in providing a series of drills for her to work on as she starts training. We also very much valued his overall mental strength and mindset coaching. I believe if we had the opportunity to continue working with Lal, either in volleyball or math, that he would be a fantastic guide and tutor for our daughter.
