Hi! I'm UK, a Johns Hopkins University graduate with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a B.A. in Public Health Studies. I completed more than 11 AP courses in high school, earned recognition as a New York State Senate Student Star, and participated in academic honor societies. These experiences gave me a strong foundation in math, science, and English, as well as an appreciation for the challenges students face in rigorous courses.
My tutoring experience began in high school, where I helped fellow students with chemistry and other subjects through Eagles Tutoring Club. At Johns Hopkins, I volunteered with the Tutorial Project, teaching English to sixth graders, preparing lesson plans, and communicating with parents. I also served as a First-Year Mentor for three years, supporting 48 students as they adjusted to college and navigated academic challenges. As a QuestBridge National College Match Finalist, I also understand the demands of college applications and personal essays.
My approach is patient, practical, and tailored to each student. I start by identifying where a student feels stuck, then break concepts into manageable steps and use guided practice to build understanding. I encourage questions and help students explain their reasoning rather than simply memorize answers. Whether we're working on algebra, biology, chemistry, English, or a college essay, my goal is to help students grow in both skill and confidence.
