Bio

My name is Lourdes C. and I am a certified bilingual special education teacher. I currently work with students that struggle with learning how to read, reading comprehension and writing. I am also Orton Gillingham trained and use the OG methodology to help students with dyslexia. I work with students in grades K-6.

My name is Lourdes C. and I am a certified bilingual special education teacher. I currently work with students that struggle with learning how to read, reading comprehension and writing. I am also Orton Gillingham trained and use the OG methodology to help students with dyslexia. I work with students in grades K-6.

In order to help students I use a multi-sensory approach of instruction and learning. Prior to starting any intervention and/or tutoring I like to conduct some assessments in collaboration with parents and students to establish a benchmark and starting point.

In the past I have tutored Elementary students in reading and writing. I have also tutored high school students in testing strategies, organization and study methods.

I am available to tutor in person or remotely as needed. In the evenings and weekends.

I am trained in various programs including Wilson, Orton Gillingham, visualization and verbalizing.

I have my bilingual extension certification in Spanish.

I have successfully taught students with dyslexia to read both phonetic words as well as learn sight words. I am trained in the Orton Gillingham methodology and used multisensory strategies to engage and motivate students to read.

As a certified special education teacher I work with students that experience difficulties in learning to read in English. This includes reading comprehension, decoding, fluency and understanding grammar when reading. I am trained in Orton Gillingham methodology which uses multisensory strategies to engage and solidify learning by providing multiple ways to learn subjects. Please contact me with any questions. The first session includes a preassessment to determine the student's strengths and areas of deficiencies. The parents will also receive feedback on progress after each lesson.

Lourdes is very thorough in her lesson. She took her time to get to know my son’s needs. My son enjoys her sense of humor and does not complain when he has to go to tutoring. This wasn’t the case before at a different tutoring session. Lourdes is patient and knowledgeable.
