Hi, I’m Michael! I earned my Bachelor's degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and I’m currently a fourth-year medical student at New York Medical College. My passion for tutoring began early, but it truly deepened in medical school, where I found joy in helping classmates make sense of complex concepts. I understand how overwhelming board prep can be, and I’ve come to deeply value the role of a good mentor during that process. I passed Step 1 on my first attempt and scored a 265 on Step 2 CK. I also honored several of the most challenging clinical rotations, including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, and Pediatrics. I credit much of this success to a combination of active learning, strategic preparation, and strong mentorship, which are principles I now bring into every tutoring session.
Over the years, I’ve worked with undergraduate and medical students in both classroom and one-on-one settings, with a focus on standardized exam prep. My approach is highly individualized: I take time to understand each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and goals, then design a study plan that’s targeted and efficient. I aim to teach high-yield material, clinical reasoning, and smart test-taking strategies, while also fostering confidence and curiosity. My aim isn’t just to help students memorize facts, but to truly understand the material so they can approach exams with clarity and purpose.
Above all, I want every student I work with to feel supported and empowered. I tailor my sessions to meet each student's needs and always welcome feedback from students and parents. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to schedule a session!

The best tutor that I have had here!

Michael is intelligent; period. That is what a medical student needs when trying to learn difficult medical topics! He explains every concept with ease and can answer my questions the same. He is easy to talk to, non-judgemental, and overall his knowledge of various medical topics is superb. I seriously would recommend him to anyone studying for a clerkship shelf exam in their 3rd year of medical school or yet, any exam! Also, he is on time and has great communication with scheduling. You won't go wrong with him!
