I hold a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from the University at Albany and a master’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Queens College. I am certified to teach mathematics in grades 7–12 with an additional extension for grades 5–6 in New York State. I currently teach 8th grade math and Algebra 1 with the NYC Department of Education. Over the years, I’ve worked extensively with students in grades 6 through 9, both in classroom settings and one-on-one, helping them strengthen foundational math skills and prepare for critical exams like the Algebra 1 Regents. In addition to teaching, I serve as a part-time cheerleading coach, which allows me to build strong connections with students beyond academics and helps me support their overall confidence and motivation.

My approach to tutoring centers on building confidence, reducing math anxiety, and showing every student that they are capable of understanding and succeeding in math. I recognize that many students struggle not because of ability, but because of a lack of confidence or negative past experiences. I aim to create a patient, supportive environment where students feel safe asking questions, making mistakes, and growing. Whether your child needs support with middle school math concepts, Algebra 1 coursework, or Regents prep, I tailor each session to their individual needs and learning style. I strive not only to improve grades, but also to shift mindsets, so students begin to see themselves as “math people” and carry that confidence into the classroom and beyond.

Algebra 1

I currently teach Algebra 1 in a New York City public school and hold certification in secondary mathematics (grades 7–12), along with a master’s degree in math education. I have experience preparing students for the Algebra 1 Regents exam using Common Core-aligned strategies that focus on conceptual understanding, problem solving, and test readiness. I support students in mastering topics like linear functions, systems of equations, and quadratic expressions. My goal is to help students build confidence and fluency while understanding the “why” behind the math.
