Hi, my name is Jasper! I am a junior studying mechanical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In my time taking engineering classes, I have developed a strong foundation in a variety of subjects from algebra all the way up to calculus and physics. Math did not come easily to me in early high school, but over my time in college, I have had countless hours of practice with real-world applications which has given me a deep understanding of how to learn and teach this material. I know what it is like to struggle with these classes and believe that the changes I made along the way to succeed can help a lot of other people as well.
In high school, I self-studied for the SAT, improving my math score by 200 points, and I have since worked with my college’s learning center to tutor students in Calculus 2. One of my most rewarding experiences involved working one-on-one with a student who had previously failed Calculus 2. Through our sessions, he was able to gain the confidence and mathematical knowledge needed to pass the course. I prioritize a visual approach to help my students gain a deeper understanding, which I find greatly improves retention in the long term. By listening and adapting to each student's specific needs, I aim to make abstract concepts feel concrete.
I am available for both remote sessions and in-person tutoring in the Troy area. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or to schedule a lesson!
