Hello! I graduated from Northeastern University in 2013 with a BA in International Affairs. History remains a huge interest of mine, but I made the transition to being an EMT right after college, and then going onto becoming a paramedic in 2016. I am now a physician assistant, having graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical University in 2024.

I predominantly work on EMS coursework, and NREMT preparation. I also work with nursing and PA students on medical and EKG coursework. I do most of my NREMT tutoring through questions, making the process dynamic and interactive. I find most students do very well with this approach. I take a similar approach to tutoring for the ASVAB as well. Additionally, I also have experience with proofreading, essay writing, and AP history coursework.

I have ADHD, and more recently, realized I work with a much greater proportion of neurodiverse and learning-different individuals. I enjoy working with this population, and have seen them go on to be very successful in their careers when given the right tools. I focus on testing strategies and studying tips because of how difficult test-taking can be for the neurodiverse community, and try to integrate visual aids as much as feasible.

Some updates to my tutoring policies: First, I require a 2 hour cancellation notice to avoid the $25 cancellation fee. Likewise, I will always give students a lot of advanced notice if I need to cancel on my end. Second, if your billing info becomes invalid through Wyzant and is not made up to date 24 hours prior to our lesson, I will cancel the lesson. Third, I do not contact new/prospective students outside the wyzant messages; please do not send me your private emails or phone numbers in the messages. Thank you and please feel free to reach out if you have questions!

Review

I tried a few tutors and all were good guys but not the best tutors. However Ian is a good guy and an even better tutor. Knows his stuff more than anybody I’ve met, creates practice quizzes with thought out questions and thorough explanations for the answers, along with his own insightful and detailed power points he also creates. We log on for our session, greet each other, and it’s right to work for the whole hour. You can tell he really cares and wants you to pass. I’m recommending him to everyone I know who’s looking to pass the NREMT.

great tutor!!!

Ian was awesome and fun to work with!!! He did a great job explaining a complex economics topic that I didn’t understand well. I have a learning disability, and he was very patient and understanding with that and willing to work with me!!! Another great thing about Ian is that he cares about each and every one of his students and their learning. Prior to our session, he spent time preparing for the lesson by reviewing over the material I sent to him. When I got to the session, he already had notes on the materials and was ready to get going with sharing his thoughts. If y’all want somebody who will prep before each and every session you attend, he’s the guy. The best recommendation I have is to send him the materials that you are struggling on ahead of time so that he can prepare and get a nice amazing lesson plan going!!! These practices demonstrate exactly how a tutoring session should be conducted!!! Highly recommend working with him!!!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Ian was extremely patient with me, despite my being on the autism and ADHD spectrum, as well as having to cancel and reschedule. I really appreciated his commitment to helping me and making sure I was understanding everything he was saying. Ian is extremely knowledgeable and an excellent teacher.
