Hello, my name is Ms. J. I am a young, honest highly motivated person living in Long Island, NY. Naturally, I take the initiative in any task I am engaging in. I refuse to not be able to grow in life, so I have taken on the goal of becoming a tutor.
Recently I received certification to Teach English as a second language (TESOL). Currently, I work in a High School as a Family Para (Clerical), also asst. coach for my schools Double Dutch team. I conduct training sessions for teachers and workshops in my Dept. (Special Education dept) throughout the school year. I am a self-taught volunteer interpreter for American Sign Language (3 years+) with the hopes of soon becoming certified in this skill.
My hobbies include writing and producing music, which has become more evident in the current months as as result of showcases performed in various NYC locations. Overall, if there are areas of improvement, I am always proactive in developing the skills needed to match the task. I am proud of my ability to adapt in different settings and work well along with others.

Niecey is very knowledgeable in ASL and Deaf culture and is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others. She was able to recognize the areas where I need improvement and then develop ways to work on those areas. She responds quickly to messages and shows up on time.
Niecey has been a great tutor to me throughout the whole summer. Every week she came up with new strategies to increase my ASL vocabulary and to improve my fluency and comfort. During one lesson she even brought along a deaf friend of hers to create a more natural setting where I could use my skills in a conversational way.
Niecey is a pleasure to have as my tutor. She is funny and provides great lesson plans. I have had 2 lessons and I have already made excellent progress. Her methods are very effective.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
