Hi! I am a fourth year medical student at SUNY Upstate Medical University who recently matched into Urology. I graduated from the University of Rochester with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Health Psychology. After graduation, I spent three years working in simulation and education research before returning to SUNY Upstate to complete a Master’s degree in Medical Technology. I then went on to attend medical school where I continued to build on my interests in medical education and mentorship.
During medical school I spent a lot of time figuring out what actually works when it comes to studying efficiently, managing the large volume of material, and preparing for major exams like Step 1, Step 2, and shelfs. Like many students, my early approach involved trial and error, but over time I developed systems that made studying more efficient and less overwhelming. I was able to cruise through exams and honor clinical rotations while effectively using resources like UWorld, AMBOSS, Pathoma etc. as a supplements to the current curriculum requirements.
Teaching and mentorship have been a consistent part of my academic career. During undergrad I served as a teaching assistant for multiple courses over four years. I continued mentoring in graduate and medical school by advising alumni from my master’s program and serving as a peer mentor for younger medical students.
Medical school can feel overwhelming at times, and I remember clearly what that experience was/is like. My tutoring goal is to focus on helping students develop effective study strategies, improve time management, and create realistic study plans. I enjoy working with medical students at any stage from M1 to M4 and can help with coursework, shelf exams, and Step 1 or Step 2 preparation. In addition to academic support, I enjoy providing mentorship about navigating medical school, preparing for clinical rotations, and thinking about residency applications, particularly for surgical specialties and urology.
