I am a high school math teacher with 3 years of teaching experience and 6 years of tutoring experience. I began my mathematical studies at NYU (where I was a premed student before I decided to teach) and am continuing with my masters in math at Hunter College. And out of personal interest, I am studying for a masters in Catholic Studies at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Currently, I teach Algebra I and Geometry for high school, and during the summers I teach Pre-Algebra to grades 6 and 7.
I became a teacher because of my desire to share with students the joy of learning. I became a math teacher because of my fascination for both the subject matter and the ways in which students integrate mathematical study into their academic endeavors and their way of thinking as a whole. I believe that education is one of the foremost means of formation in becoming a good human; in my teaching and tutoring I try to shape my students to become lifelong learners regardless of their age. Most importantly, I believe that knowledge always begins with a sense of wonder, and so I always try to inspire a sense of beauty in the material being covered.
I specialize in high school math, as this is my main profession. However, after teaching during college, and through one on one tutoring experience, I am also equipped to tutor (in order of descending proficiency): SAT (math and English), middle school math, undergraduate math, high school physics, and high school biology. I can tutor in Spanish if needed, but only for middle school and high school math.
On a personal level, I play classical piano, try to compose choral music, and love to talk about music history. And I always wish I had more time to read.
