Hello! My name is Xilin and I am from Stony Brook University with Applied Math and Economic degrees. I had been the Vice President of the Stony Brook University's chess club for more than two years and I have been playing chess both in-person and online very often. I enjoy the over-the-board atmosphere and I played in various tournaments in local and out-of-state areas and my USCF rating is currently 2131. Meanwhile, I have victories against titled players online including IMs and GMs and my highest lichess platform rating is 2460.

I started teaching chess during my college freshman year and now I have about 5 years of online and in-person teaching experience. My students ranged from beginners to intermediate players with a rating around 2000. Typical class topics are openings concepts, middlegame planning, tactical warfare, and so on. During these sessions, I also played practice games and sometimes variant chess games with my students both for entertainment and practicing purposes. It is great to see them having fun and learn chess at the same time! :) We also do tournament preparations together where we went over games and work on those areas of improvement.
