I have been teaching Earth Science for over 10 years and I love it. I have tutored in my own school for many years; I especially love working one-on-one with students. This allows me to get a great understanding of how they learn: visually, auditorily, textually or kinesthetically.
In New York State, the subject of Earth Science consists of three main topics: Geology, Meteorology and Astronomy. All of these topics are especially wonderful students of New York as there are so many geologic wonders that are all around us. I received my masters in Education a little over 10 years ago. While acquiring my masters I was lucky enough to take several classes with the Museum of Natural History; they also have amazing summer opportunities for students. I also expanded my Geology training with week long field trips to Death Valley and many locations in upstate New York.
All of my teaching years have been spent with Earth Science Regents. This has allowed me to witness how the test has changed. I have also graded the Regents for many years, I know how they grade short response questions and am very familiar with content given on the tests. I am also extremely knowledgeable of the Next Generation Science Standards; it is these standards that the state will be focusing on in the coming years.
