Hi, I’m Kevi, a New York City-based tutor with an academic and professional background in economics, business, and technology. I studied Economics at Cornell University with a minor in Business, where I developed a strong foundation in mathematics, analytical reasoning, writing, and problem-solving. My education has taught me not only how to approach complex problems, but also how to break them down into clear, manageable steps—an approach I bring into my tutoring sessions.
My first tutoring experience was in high school, when I worked as a grade-school tutor at J&J’s Knowledge Express. I worked directly with younger students to help them understand academic concepts, complete assignments, and develop strong foundational skills. This one-on-one experience taught me the importance of patience, clear communication, and adapting my explanations to each student's age, ability, and learning style. I learned that effective tutoring is not simply about providing the right answer, but helping a student understand the reasoning behind it and become more confident working independently.
Today, I work as an Account Executive at an AI technology startup, where I regularly use communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment. I am comfortable working with students from grade school through high school across a range of academic subjects, as well as helping students prepare for the SAT. My tutoring style is personalized and focused on genuine understanding rather than memorization. I use examples, guided practice, and step-by-step explanations while adjusting my approach to each student's needs and pace. For SAT preparation, I focus on strengthening both the underlying academic skills and the test-taking strategies needed to approach the exam with confidence. I enjoy helping students not only improve their performance, but also develop the confidence and problem-solving skills that will serve them beyond the classroom.
