Incoming Freshman at UMass Amherst | Computer Science Major | 60+ Students Tutored | Top State & International Math Rankings
Hi, I’m Dylan! I’m an incoming freshman at UMass Amherst, where I’ll be majoring in Computer Science. For the past three years, I’ve dedicated myself to helping students not only improve their math skills, but also build lasting confidence in their abilities.
I graduated from Susan E. Wagner High School with a 98.49 GPA and a deep commitment to academic excellence. Over the years, I’ve tutored more than 60 students in Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I also served as a teaching assistant for a full math class, giving me experience supporting a range of learning needs and styles.
What makes my tutoring approach effective is that I focus not just on solving problems, but on helping students understand how and why the math works. I break down each concept step by step using visual tools, relatable examples, and logical explanations. This helps students truly grasp the ideas behind the math. Whether it’s simplifying a function or tackling a complex word problem, I ensure every student walks away with clarity and confidence.
Alongside tutoring, I’ve earned recognition in several major math competitions. I placed first in New York State and 21st internationally in the Math League competition. I also earned second place at the Staten Island Technical High School Annual Math Competition, finished sixth overall at the Downtown Mathematics Invitational (DMI) hosted at Stuyvesant, and ranked in the top 5% worldwide for my research paper in the M3 MathWorks Challenge, a prestigious mathematical research-based competition.
Whether your student needs support mastering fundamentals or preparing for advanced exams, I’m here to guide them with patience, encouragement, and a passion for making math make sense.
