Hi! I'm Deanna, a dedicated and passionate educator currently earning my degree in Special Education at SUNY Empire State College. I transferred from the College of Staten Island and have been in the field of education for over five years.

My experience began with an internship that grew into a long-term position working with individuals with disabilities of all ages. I currently serve as a director at a summer camp for teens with disabilities, where I lead programming that supports both academic and social development. I also work year-round in an educational setting where I provide one-on-one and small group support, helping students with everything from foundational academic skills to building self-confidence and independence.

I specialize in working with students who have diverse learning needs, and my teaching approach is individualized, patient, and strengths-based. I tailor my methods to each student’s unique learning style—whether through visual supports, hands-on activities, or scaffolded instruction—to help them understand concepts and retain information effectively.

I’ve tutored in subjects such as reading, writing, math, and life skills, primarily with students in elementary through high school. I also have experience supporting students with IEPs and behavioral needs. My ultimate goal is to become a school counselor or social worker, and I bring that compassionate, whole-child perspective to every tutoring session.
