There is nothing more that I love about tutoring than helping students who are having difficulty in a subject. I utilize various teaching techniques to create the best mode of learning for that particular student. If I cannot help the student for whatever reason, either due to a personality clash or a lack of effort on the student's part, then I shall drop that student. It helps no one if the student cannot learn! I have taught in public high school and middle school for thirty-four years, as well as in a community college as an adjunct faculty member for three years. My track record is excellent as I have helped many students pass New York State Regents in German, Hebrew, and Global Studies and Geography. I shall not tutor any student unless he/she is willing to make a commitment to put forth his/her best effort. If this happens, then he/she will most likely succeed in learning.

Steven is a wonderful tutor. I am taking a college online Hebrew course that doesn't really have a teacher. Steven is acting as that teacher and making an otherwise impossible situation a good learning experience. He is giving me confidence that I can succeed!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught Hebrew language for nineteen years in public high school. There were four levels which I taught, not including independent study. This was a Hebrew Regents course. I have traveled to Israel eleven times and studied Hebrew language at top Ulpanim for two summers. In addition to public high school experience, I have taught spoken Ulpan Hebrew for three years at a community college.
The Hebrew language is a unique language whose root system makes it unique from all other languages. I appreciate the formation of words as well as the shapes of the letters, which I try my best to communicate to all my students. The beauty of Hebrew makes learning the language a true art form!
For most of my teaching career of 34 years (23 years), I taught Global Studies 9 and 10 in high school. I have experience in all levels-compensatory skills Regents, regular Regents, and Honors Regents. My students were highly motivated in very difficult subject matter, and most of my students succeeded greatly. My area of interest in Global Studies parallels my interests in the cultures of the foreign languages that I am versed in. I tailor my methods of tutoring to both the strengths and weaknesses of the student, whether it is difficulty in applying concepts, comprehending the questions and DBQs, or written expression.
