“**Knowledgeable and patient tutor**”

After 25 years as an Electrical Engineer, I have chosen to change careers to teaching mathematics and technology to middle and high school students. I spent many years mentoring electricians through apprenticeship programs and noticed that I spent much of my time teaching them mathematics. I also loved working with students in middle school

Susan was extremely patient she noticed early on that I lack confidence in my abilities. She is extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to learn with. She taught me any Beta and hypothesis testing.

Susan did a preliminary check of my knowledge base and began tutoring from there. Her step by step approach was a great learning tool for me in seeing the full algebraic process. Very skillful.

Susan was excellent! She helped determine the best statistical method for a project, explained it in real world terms, made it repeatable for future use. I'm not a math geek but I got it thanks to her help!

Susan was great to work with and has great experience in the Plc world. She helped me complete my assigned lab work and gave me a better understanding of Plc logic.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have recently taken two courses in teaching Common Core mathematics at the middle and high school levels at SUNY Brockport as part of my Masters program in Education where I have a 4.0 GPA. I have completed 4 semesters of observation and student teaching of Common Core mathematics including 6th and 7th grade, Algebra 1, and Geometry. I have prepared students for both the Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 & Trigonometry Regents exams through the Gillam Grant Learning Center. I enjoy teaching the process of working through word problems since this is a large component of the Common Core mathematics curriculum.

I have over 25 years experience as an Electrical Engineer in an industrial setting. My specialty is teaching PLC programming in a variety of controllers. I have also taught microelectronics and circuits. I enjoy working individually with people who are looking to gain their journeyman certification for the electrical trades.

I have successfully tutored several students in Regents Common Core Algebra 1 and Algebra 2/Trigonometry over the past two years. I grew up in NY and successfully passed all the Regents exams all the way through high school at a Mastery level (85+) and recently had some professional development regarding the grading of the extended response questions. I can help your student understand how to gain the most points and be confidently ready for the test.
