After 25 years as an Electrical Engineer, I chose to change careers to teaching mathematics and technology to students from middle school through adults. I spent many years mentoring electricians through apprenticeship programs and noticed that I spent much of my time teaching mathematics. After 25 years as an Electrical Engineer, I chose to change careers to teaching mathematics and technology to students from middle school through adults. I spent many years mentoring electricians through apprenticeship programs and noticed that I spent much of my time teaching mathematics. I also loved working with students in middle and high school careers classes where I could show why learning mathematics was a necessary life skill.

I completed my Master's degree in inclusive Secondary Mathematics Education at SUNY Brockport in June 2016. I have taught and privately tutored students from 5th grade through college in middle school math, Common Core Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus and Statistics. I really enjoy working one-on-one and in small group settings with students who are either struggling or need extra challenges.

Please feel free to contact me about personalized tutoring in for mathematics and electrical engineering subjects. I love helping students to learn methods to work through word problems and review for the NY Regents and College Entrance exams as well as helping adults increase their test taking skills for job improvement opportunities.

I have recently taken two courses in teaching Common Core mathematics at the middle and high school levels at SUNY Brockport as part of my Masters program in Education where I have a 4.0 GPA. I have completed 4 semesters of observation and student teaching of Common Core mathematics including 6th and 7th grade, Algebra 1, and Geometry. I have prepared students for both the Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 & Trigonometry Regents exams through the Gillam Grant Learning Center. I enjoy teaching the process of working through word problems since this is a large component of the Common Core mathematics curriculum.

knowledgeable and easy to talk to

I have never had a tutor let alone video interaction teaching (I'm new to this). I was a bit nervous. Upon signing in and chatting with her I was relieved to find she was very patient and understanding of my situation. Miss Susans knowledge and way of explaining things was so easy to follow as well as helpful. Im looking forward to our next meeting

Great teacher! Very patient!

Lessons with Susan are going really well. As an adult going back to school after being out of school for so long, school had been more of a struggle. Susan is patient and doesn't make you feel dumb even when you make easy mistakes. She's been super helpful and I would highly recommend her! She is an excellent and patient tutor !

Awesome tutor focused on passing on knowledge

Susan goes above and beyond in our lessons. Her vast knowledge gives her foresight into how to prepare for the lesson, which broadens the scope and goes beyond my expectations. I have learned (and continue to learn) so much from her. She is always on time, always organized, and it is obvious to me that she is a brilliant woman in multiple fields! Highly, highly recommend her!
