Hello! I'm Nikki and I am passionate about teaching and tutoring science. I have B.S. degrees in biology and anthropology from UCLA, where I later earned a master's in public health. I actually first began tutoring way back when I was in high school and I worked with younger students in math. That experience sparked my interest in teaching, although I had no idea that is where my eventual career would lead.
After completing grad school, I began teaching biology and AP Biology at an independent Jewish high school in Los Angeles where I worked for five years. I then moved to New York City and began teaching at an independent K-12 school for girls where I landed for nearly two decades. There, I expanded my teaching repertoire and developed innovative classes like the Genetics of Cancer, A Sustainable World, and the Evolution of Primates. I also acquired more student-centered approaches and honed my pedagogical toolkit, particularly through the use of effective educational technology.
Early on in my teaching career, I continued tutoring and expanded to include biology and chemistry. After some years, I took a break to focus on other endeavors, but I have recently re-entered the tutoring world and am thoroughly enjoying it! The most fulfilling part is watching a student develop the confidence and skills to eventually no longer need me.
