I have a Master's degree in education from Columbia University's Teachers College. My special education certificate from Brooklyn College will be complete this Fall. I have worked in human resources where I have reviewed and evaluated several resumes and cover letters. I also volunteer for FEGS, an organization that helps unemployed people on public assistance find jobs. I help these clients prepare resumes, write cover letters, search for jobs, and fill out applications. I also work with several high school students and help them create resumes for college and summer jobs.

I completed a 30 hour course in the Orton-Gillingham method of reading, writing, and spelling. The O-G approach is based on phonics and builds to reading, writing, and spelling. This method is widely recognized as a successful tool for helping dyslexic students overcome their challenges.

I have helped students in 3rd - 5th grade prepare for the NYS Math exams. My students have scored above 4 on the test. I also help younger students in K-2 build a strong mathematical foundation. I currently am trying to start a small group for middle school students to review math facts that are slowing them down in their higher level math course. If you are interested in this small group, it is held in the East Village at a discounted price of $25 per student for one hour.

I have taken three in person, hands on, multi sensory trainings for developing handwriting in students through handwriting without tears. The first training was geared toward preschool students to help build basic fine motor skills and concepts of identifying and building letters. The second training included print and cursive for grades k-5 using various multi sensory techniques. The third training prepared me to asses student handwriting samples and prepare individual intervention plans for each student. I have also studied Zaner Bloser and D'Nealian handwriting styles.
