Hi! I’m Nina, a student at Cornell University studying Information Science with a concentration in Data Science and UX, with coursework in Linear Algebra, Statistics, Data Science, and programming. I was also Salutatorian of my high school class and have received honors including the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and the Milstein Program in Technology and Humanities.
I have tutoring experience from throughout high school, where I worked with students in Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 and helped them strengthen their understanding of key math concepts, homework, quizzes, and test preparation. I specialize in high school math, including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus, as well as AP math exam preparation.
My teaching style is patient, organized, and student-centered. I like to begin by understanding what the student is currently learning, where they feel confused, and what their goals are. From there, I break topics down step by step, explain them in a simple and approachable way, and then guide students through practice problems until they feel confident doing them independently. I believe math becomes much less intimidating when students understand the “why” behind each step, not just how to memorize formulas.
I can help with homework support, reviewing difficult class material, preparing for quizzes and exams, building stronger study habits, and practicing for AP exams. I am happy to adjust each lesson based on the student’s needs, whether they want extra practice, clearer explanations, or a full review before a test.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson. I would love to help you feel more confident and successful in math!
