Hello! I am passionate about teaching and learning. I taught English for three years in Spain, where I also learned and became fluent in Spanish as an adult, so I know the important role that language plays in enriching one's life. I have a degree in English (special focus: Creative Writing) from Smith College, a master's degree from the University of Granada in International Relations and Education, and am hoping to soon pursue a PhD in linguistics (language acquisition) at the University of Málaga. I also am TEFL certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. My areas of academic expertise are English, English as a second language, Spanish, academic writing, argumentative writing, and creative writing.
My approach to teaching is to make it as fun and personal as possible. I know from firsthand experience that we can only learn when we have some type of connection to and motivation within the subject matter, so I try to create that for all of my students by really getting to know them. I try to include students in their own learning process, as I believe that a classroom should be a shared space rather than a unilateral system. I hope that kind of learning sounds as good to you as it does to me!
